The Department of Ecosystem Management, Climate and Biodiversity, Institute of Forest Demonstration Centre Rosalia is currently seeking a Postgraduate or a Postdoctoral Research Associate (Senior Scientist).
Extent of employment: 40 hours per week
Duration of employment: 1st of October 2025 - permanent
Allocation in compliance with the Collective Agreement for University Staff to job group: B1 or B1 lit. b
Gross monthly salary: depending on previous eligible experience at least without doctorate B1 Euro 3.714,80, with doctorate B1 lit. b Euro 4.932,90, payable 14 times per year
Responsibilities
- Responsibility for teaching, research and administration
- Reorganisation of the Rosalia Teaching Forest Centre as a cooperative research infrastructure BOKU Research & Training Forest
- Further development of the eLTER site in Rosalia in the context of establishing the European eLTER research infrastructure as an ERIC
- Coordination and harmonisation of research activities
- Communication and coordination with ÖBf AG as landowner
- Coordination of maintenance, repair and expansion or optimisation of the research infrastructure
- Management and coordination of other infrastructure, including buildings
- Budget management
- Participation in the acquisition of research projects
- Promotion awareness of the BOKU Teaching and Research Forest Rosalia through stakeholder management and third-mission activities
- Writing reports and raising third-party funds for the procurement of research infrastructure
- Support for teaching activities and workshops
- Communication and coordination with university steering bodies, for example the scientific advisory board
- Research data management
- Professional management and responsibility for the staff assigned to the Rosalia Teaching Research Centre
Required skills and qualifications
- Doctorate degree or PhD in Forestry or diploma degree in Forestry with appropriate professional experience or other equivalent university degree
- Fluent German and English skills
Desired skills and qualifications
- Theoretical and practical experience in the planning, acquisition and coordination of field research projects
- Experience in project and infrastructure management including reporting
- Experience in the field of science communication
- Independent working style, high level of motivation and ability to work in a team
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
