The Department of Landscape, Water and Infrastructure, Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and River Research is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate.

Extent of employment: 20 hours per week (with the option of increasing this amount through third-party funding)

Duration of employment: as of now, limited to 31st of December 2030

Workplace: 1200 Vienna, Am Brigittenauer Sporn 3 (BOKU Wasserbaulabor)

Allocation in compliance with the Collective Agreement for University Staff to job group: B1 lit. b

Gross monthly salary: depending on previous eligible experience at least € 2.507,20, payable 14 times per year

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of the abiotic part of the Upper Danube Supersite within the framework of DANUBIUS-RI, flagship research infrastructure for comprehensive understanding of River-Sea Systems, https://danubius-ri.eu
  • Integration and support of stakeholders relevant to DANUBIUS
  • Cooperation with Austrian and International partners in DANUBIUS
  • Acquisition of research projects within the framework of DANUBIUS and of thematic relevance
  • Development and establishment of relevant monitoring systems in the Supersite Upper Danube and beyond
  • Conducting abiotic field measurements in river systems
  • Data analysis and interpretation of measurement results, interaction with numerical and physical modeling
  • Authorship of scientific SCI publications
  • Participation in and contributions to scientific conferences
  • Contributions to public relations and social media

Required skills and qualifications

  • Doctorate degree / PhD in Environmental Sciences and Civil Engineering
  • Very good German and English skills
  • Excellent knowledge in abiotic monitoring of river systems
  • Practical experience in river research

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Experience in project management and collaboration with project partners
  • Project experience in relation to the Danube River
  • Interest and enthusiasm for working in a team
  • Strong desire to conduct excellent research
