The Department of Biotechnology and Food Science, Institute of Bioprocess Science and Engineering is currently seeking a Postgraduate Research Associate in project employment.
Extent of employment: 30 hours per week
Duration of employment: 1st of November 2025, limited to 31st of December 2027, with option for temporary extension
Allocation in compliance with the Collective Agreement for University Staff to job group: B1
Gross monthly salary: depending on previous eligible experience at least Euro 2.786,10, payable 14 times per year
Responsibilities
- Scientific work in the field of developing purification steps and their real-time monitoring of gene therapy vectors, establishing soft sensors using mathematical or hybrid models for purification steps. Project overview: PhD DSP PAT 2025
- Preparation of reports and preparations
- Co-supervision of master’s and bachelor’s theses
- Independent writing of scientific publications and presentations at international scientific conferences
Required skills and qualifications
- Diploma degree in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, biochemical engineering or other equivalent university degree
- Very good English skills, German skills an advantage
Desirable skills and qualifications
- Knowledge of downstream processing and analysis of proteins and bionanoparticles
- Experience with preparative chromatography
- Interest in process modeling and programming
- Understanding of biotechnological processes, particularly the requirements of biopharmaceuticals
- High motivation and willingness to learn and perform
- Strong team spirit
