The Department of Ecosystem Management, Climate and Biodiversity, Institute of Botany is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate.

Extent of employment: 40 hours per week

Duration of employment: 1st of December 2025, limited to 30th of November 2031

Allocation in compliance with the Collective Agreement for University Staff to job group: B1 lit. b

Gross monthly salary: depending on previous eligible experience at least Euro 4.932,90, payable 14 times per year

Responsibilities

  • We are offering a 6-year position for a postdoctoral research associate at the Institute of Botany of BOKU University Vienna. Focus of our group are plant ecophysiology, functional anatomy, stress physiology, global change, and ecology and ecophysiology of alpine and tropical plants. Candidates should have experience in one or several of these areas.
  • The candidate is expected to participate in research of the working group Ecophysiology and to carry out own projects in this field.
  • This includes submission, management and administration of third-party funded, competitive projects.
  • Supervision and co-supervision of master and PhD theses.
  • Teaching of courses in German and/or English.
  • Active participation in BOKU self-administration.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Doctorate degree or PhD in Biology or related field.
  • Good English skills.
  • Previous work in the field of plant ecophysiology.
  • International publications in the field.
  • Experience in scientific projects.

Desired skills and qualifications

  • Experience in plant water relation, photosynthesis, functional anatomy, stress physiology, global change ecology or ecology of alpine or tropical plants.
  • Experience in lab and field measurements in plant ecophysiology.
  • Excellent German.
  • Experience in academic teaching.
  • International experience.
  • Team spirit.
  • Good knowledge of statistics.
