The Department of Biotechnology and Food Sciences, Institute of Cell and Tissue Culture Technologies is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate.
Extent of employment: 40 hours per week
Duration of employment: 1st of February 2026, limited to 31st of January 2027, with option for temporary extension
Allocation in compliance with the Collective Agreement for University Staff to job group: B1 lit. b
Gross monthly salary: depending on previous eligible experience at least Euro 4.932,90, payable 14 times per year
We are looking for a scientist for a position that comprises experimental laboratory work, teaching as well as administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Cell structure technology, working with primary cells and cell lines.
- Development of novel upstream and downstream strategies and methods for stem cell isolation, expansion and differentiation as well as production and isolation of cell based components and substances in 2D and 3D formats.
- Design and optimization of bioreactor systems for cell culture processes including integration of biosensors and monitoring.
- Planning, execution and evaluation of experiments; presentation and publication of results in international conferences.
- Participation in teaching.
- Coordination and management of projects; guidance and supervision of employees, including students and doctoral candidates.
- Laboratory organization and management including development of new SOPs.
- Proposal and grant writing.
- Active involvement in teaching, seminars and workshops.
- Participation and contribution to administrative tasks on institute and department level.
Required skills and qualifications
- Doctorate degree or PhD in the field of life science, biotechnology or comparable.
- Relevant publications in the field of 3D cell culture and bioreactors.
- Experience with different formats of using biomaterials in 3D cell culture.
- Experience with the use of biosensors or monitoring systems in cell culture.
- Experience in planning and conducting lectures and seminars.
- Experience in supervising bachelor and master theses.
- Experience in supervising students during internships.
- Very good knowledge of German and English, both spoken and written; German skills can be expanded or optimized in the first year.
- Experience with presenting your own scientific results at international conferences.
Desired skills and qualifications
- Profound experience in the conception and writing of scientific publications and proposal writing; preferably successful acquisition of third party funding.
- Experience with teaching as well as supervision and guidance of students.
- Willingness to work in an international team.
- Openness to interdisciplinary collaborations.
