The Department of Biotechnology and Food Science, Institute of Bioprocess Science and Engineering is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in project employment.

Extent of employment: 40 hours per week

Duration of employment: as of now, limited to 31st of October 2028

Allocation in compliance with the Collective Agreement for University Staff to job group: B1 lit. b

Gross monthly salary: depending on previous eligible experience at least Euro 4.932,90, payable 14 times per year

Responsibilities

• Develop downstream processes for recombinant proteins produced in plants, starting from plant biomass all the way to purified product.
• Troubleshoot process bottlenecks including protein stability issues.
• Ensure high process speed and low costs.
• Ensure process scalability.
• Co-supervise PhD, master and bachelor students.
• Prepare the publication of scientific results.
• Participate in conferences.
• Support teaching activities.
• Support project administration.

Required skills and qualifications

• Doctoral degree or PhD in Biotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering or similar disciplines.
• Language skills: fluent English; German advantageous.
• Ability and willingness to integratively work and lead in an international, diverse team of researchers.

Desirable skills and qualifications

• Programming skills, for example Python.
• Modelling skills, for example CADET.
• Experience with plant molecular farming.
