The production site in Spittal an der Drau has been part of this success story since 2018 and has become one of the largest industrial employer in Upper Carinthia with approximately 460 employees. We work on the development and production of solid and semi-solid food supplements and drug formulations, such as Femibion, Bion3, Neurobion, Kytta or Vigantol.

Our traineeship positions offer students the unique opportunity to test technical competence and management talent under real conditions and with specific tasks. A growing proportion of our junior staff are former interns.

From Day 1, we want you to be part of our team which works on projects focused on inventing, reapplying and developing technologies required to support the production process of our extraordinary consumer products.

YOUR ROLE

As a Data Activation & Asset Management Intern, you will support building foundational data capabilities at the Spittal site. You will contribute to driving data-centered solutions that make the organization more data-driven and efficient.

  • Assess current data landscape and align with business objectives

  • Support the development and implementation of data strategy

  • Assist in defining data management standards, guidelines, and principles

  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Intelligent Controls & Automation, and Site Digital teams to identify high-value OT and QA lab data

  • Help implement and configure data pipelines from source systems such as PLC and HMI to the Corporate Data Lake and other systems

  • Support capability building in site OT resources for data modeling and pipeline interfacing

  • Assist with data governance processes including metadata management, business glossary, and access controls

  • Help establish and maintain best practices for data publishing and quality assurance

  • Contribute to the creation and rollout of training materials on data management

  • Promote usage of the data catalog within the plant

  • Collaborate with Data Analysts, Data Consumers, and Development teams to gather requirements

  • Ensure data quality and usability across systems

  • Participate actively in cross-functional projects and initiatives

  • Document and report work progress regularly

WHAT WE OFFER

  • 9-12 months traineeship working on projects with complex technical tasks, independence and rapidly growing personal responsibility in a young, dynamic team

  • Possible stepping stone to a direct entry after graduation

  • Compensation: This position is subject to the Austrian Collective Bargaining Agreement for Employees in the Chemical Industry in employment group I.

Job Qualifications

  • Strong academic background in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related IT field (minimum 4–6 semesters completed)

  • Technical skills in data engineering, analytics, pipelines, and data strategy

  • Basic knowledge of data governance, quality, and data architecture

  • Ability to work independently and lead initiatives

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); German highly preferred

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Passion for continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment

  • Preferred:

  • Experience with Agile, Scrum, or DevOps

  • Familiarity with OT systems (PLC, HMI) or industrial automation

  • Knowledge of metadata management and data catalog tools

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Azure Fundamentals)

Spittal an der Drau

In Spittal an der Drau entstehen Tabletten, Kapseln und Salben, die später in Apotheken rund um die Welt liegen. Neurobion, Femibion, Kytta, Vigantol: Diese Namen kommen aus Oberkärnten. Rund 550 Menschen arbeiten hier, das macht P&G Health Austria zum größten Industriearbeitgeber der Region. Seit 2018 gehört das Werk zum Procter-&-Gamble-Konzern.

Hergestellt werden feste und halbfeste Arzneiformen sowie Nahrungsergänzungsmittel. Verkauft werden sie weltweit. Das Werk ist hochautomatisiert und deckt eine große Fertigungstiefe ab, an neuen Produkten wird am Standort ebenfalls gearbeitet. Wer sich hier bewirbt, arbeitet also nicht an einer Zulieferstufe, sondern an Produkten, die vom Rohstoff bis zur fertigen Packung im Haus bleiben.

Bis 2018 gehörte das Werk zur Consumer-Health-Sparte von Merck; dann übernahm Procter & Gamble diesen Bereich, und aus dem Merck-Standort wurde P&G Health Austria. Der damalige Werksleiter sprach öffentlich davon, dass die bestehenden Arbeitsplätze gesichert seien. Für die Belegschaft hat der Eigentümerwechsel eine handfeste Folge: Hinter dem Standort steht heute ein Konzern mit rund 100.000 Beschäftigten in 70 Ländern, und interne Wechsel sind über Standort- und Ländergrenzen hinweg möglich.

Den Kern der Belegschaft bilden Produktionsmitarbeitende und Technikerinnen und Techniker, die die Anlagen betreuen. Im Labor laufen chemische, physikalische und chromatographische Analysen an den Wirkstoffen und Chargen. Ausgebildet wird auch selbst: Das Unternehmen ist als Lehrbetrieb eingetragen und bildet unter anderem in Pharmatechnologie und in Labortechnik mit Schwerpunkt Chemie aus, dazu kommen technische Modullehrberufe wie Mechatronik. Für Jugendliche aus dem Bezirk ist das eine der wenigen Adressen, an denen sich eine Pharmalehre direkt vor der Haustür machen lässt.

Zur Arbeitskultur schreibt das Werk selbst, sie sei von Zusammenhalt und Teamgeist geprägt, und Beschäftigte übernähmen vom ersten Tag an eigenverantwortliche Aufgaben. Arbeitssicherheit steht dabei über allem, formuliert im Satz: "Nichts was wir tun ist es wert, sich dabei zu verletzen!" Beim Entgelt nennt das Unternehmen Gehalt und Prämien, dazu ein Aktienkaufprogramm, eine Betriebskantine und Gesundheitsprogramme.

Eigene Umsatz- oder Exportzahlen für den Standort veröffentlicht das Unternehmen nicht, und die Mitarbeiterangaben schwanken je nach Seite zwischen rund 460 und rund 550. Gesellschaftssitz ist die Hösslgasse in Spittal an der Drau, Kontakt und Bewerbung laufen über die Werksseite.
