Senior AI Product Engineer / AI Workflow Architect

At AMEX Healthcare, we are scaling AI across our core operations from document processing and knowledge systems to decision support and automation. We are looking for a senior AI engineer who combines strong Python skills, LLM system design, and a deep sense of responsibility for output quality.

You will play a key role in shaping the future of our company - the AI systems that support life-saving projects across the globe. You will build AI systems people rely on.

Your job responsibilities

• Design and implement end-to-end AI workflows integrated into real business processes
• Build and maintain Python-based AI systems including LLMs, embeddings, retrieval and orchestration
• Work with large, heterogeneous datasets such as ERP data, emails, documents, files and APIs
• Design and manage vectorization pipelines and retrieval strategies
• Trace, monitor and debug LLM calls, prompts, outputs and failures
• Define and enforce quality, reliability and evaluation standards for AI outputs
• Collaborate closely with product, business and tech stakeholders
• Decide when AI is the right tool and when it is not
• Document architectures, trade-offs and decisions clearly and pragmatically

What we expect from you

• Strong hands-on experience with Python in production environments
• Experience building systems with LLMs such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI or open-source models
• Solid understanding of embeddings, vector databases and retrieval patterns
• Experience with prompting, evaluation, tracing and output quality control
• Ability to design AI systems that are robust, explainable and maintainable
• Comfort working with ERP data and Microsoft systems
• Product mindset: you care about outcomes, not just models
• High sense of ownership and responsibility for system behavior
• Clear and structured communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Persistence, curiosity and motivation to learn
• Experience integrating AI into real business workflows is a strong plus
