EB Research Institute GmbH is a non-profit biotech organization based in Salzburg, Austria, founded as a joint venture between DEBRA Austria and Salzburg University Hospital. We are a translational R&D institute dedicated to developing innovative therapies for Epidermolysis bullosa (EB), a devastating rare genetic skin disease. Key Responsibilities:
Support the daily operations of the EB Bioban
Contribute to the management of cell banks and biobank activities, including sample processing and quality assurance.
Maintain accurate experimental documentation and ensure high standards of data quality and reproducibility.
Evaluate, implement and optimize new laboratory technologies and workflows.
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams across biology, translational research and clinical partners.
Contribute to scientific problem-solving and continuous improvement of research processes.
Skills required: Essential
- PhD or MSc with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or a related Life Sciences discipline.
- Demonstrated expertise in mammalian cell culture, including extensive hands-on experience with primary human cells.
- Proven track record in developing, optimizing and troubleshooting complex cell-based assays and experimental workflows.
- Strong practical expertise in molecular and cellular biology techniques (e.g. qPCR, library preparation, immunofluorescence, Wester blotting and microscopy).
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary and international teams.
- Fluent English and German, both written and spoken.
- Experience with biobanking, primary patient-derived samples and laboratory quality systems.
- Experience in establishing new technologies and implementing innovative laboratory methods.
- Readiness for moderate travel.
