In den Reinräumen in Hall in Tirol entstehen Systeme, mit denen Wirkstoffe für Krebs-, Zell- und Gentherapien sicher eingefroren, umgefüllt und gekühlt um die halbe Welt geschickt werden. Gebaut werden sie von Single Use Support, gegründet 2016 in Tirol, heute mit über 190 Beschäftigten. Der Firmensitz liegt in Kufstein, ein zweiter Standort in Hall in Tirol, eine Tochtergesellschaft seit März 2024 bei Boston. Kunden sind Biopharma-Hersteller in Europa, den USA und Asien.
Was die Firma macht, lässt sich gut an einem Problem erklären. Flüssige Arzneimittelwirkstoffe sind extrem wertvoll, und jeder Liter, der beim Umfüllen, Einfrieren oder beim Transport verloren geht oder Schaden nimmt, kostet den Hersteller viel Geld und Patientinnen und Patienten Zeit. Genau dort setzen die Produkte an. Die RoSS-Schutzhüllen umschließen Einweg-Beutel, damit sie im Handling nicht reißen, dazu kommen Anlagen zum kontrollierten Einfrieren und Auftauen, sterile Schlauchsysteme und Kühlcontainer für den Versand. Verarbeitet werden darin unter anderem monoklonale Antikörper, mRNA-Wirkstoffe und Impfstoffe. Zu den öffentlich genannten Anwendern zählen Auftragshersteller wie Lonza und Rentschler Biopharma.
Das Wachstum verlief ungewöhnlich schnell. 2019 lag der Umsatz bei rund drei Millionen Euro, für 2021 meldete das Unternehmen mehr als 130 Millionen Euro (top.tirol, 27.01.2022); aktuellere Umsatzzahlen sind nicht veröffentlicht. In Kufstein wurde bis Ende 2022 ein dreigeschossiger Neubau für Büro und Produktion errichtet, in Hall in Tirol kam ein zweiter Standort mit rund 6.000 m² Büro- und Produktionsfläche dazu. Im Mai 2024 übernahm die dänische Novo Holdings die Mehrheit der Anteile. Die beiden Gründer Johannes Kirchmair und Thomas Wurm blieben als Minderheitseigentümer und Berater an Bord, der Industriekonzern Danaher als Gesellschafter ebenfalls. Geführt wird das Unternehmen von CEO Christian Praxmarer. Wer sich hier bewirbt, arbeitet also für einen Tiroler Betrieb mit Eigentümern, deren erklärtes Ziel der weitere Ausbau in den USA und in Asien ist.
Die Berufsbilder sind entsprechend breit gestreut. In der sterilen Produktion in Hall halten Reinraummitarbeiterinnen, Arbeitsvorbereiter und Schichtleiter die Fertigung am Laufen, in Kufstein konstruieren Maschinenbau-Ingenieure die nächste Anlagengeneration, und Service Engineers betreuen die Systeme beim Kunden. Dazwischen liegen Qualitätssicherung und Projektmanagement, dazu ein Vertriebsteam, das inzwischen auch von den USA aus arbeitet. Gefertigt wird nach ISO 9001, die Informationssicherheit ist nach ISO 27001 zertifiziert, eine Umweltzertifizierung nach ISO 14001 ist bis 2026 geplant. Wer ohne Auto pendelt, bekommt das KlimaTicket bezahlt; dazu kommen vier Euro Essenszuschuss pro Arbeitstag, Bikeleasing sowie Massage und Physiotherapie im Haus. Ausgezeichnet wurde das Unternehmen unter anderem als Best Managed Company 2024 und mit dem Gold-Rang bei Austria's Leading Companies. Anfang August 2026 standen auf der Karriereseite rund ein Dutzend offene Stellen, von der Reinraumproduktion in Hall bis zum Senior Sales Manager an der US-Ostküste.
