MotionSynq is an early-stage deep-tech startup currently incubated at Science Park Graz. We are developing a wearable biomechanics system for human movement and joint-loading analysis. By combining wearable sensors, biomechanics and machine learning, we aim to make advanced movement analysis accessible beyond the laboratory.
We have built our first multi-sensor prototype and established the core biomechanics proof of concept. We are now looking for a Technical Co-Founder and CTO to help us build the next generation of MotionSynq and shape the technology going forward.
Your role
You will take technical ownership across our core development areas:
- Develop our wireless multi-sensor system together with the team, covering IMUs, BLE connectivity, sensor synchronization, power management, and reliable data acquisition.
- Improve sensor fusion, calibration, attachment and overall measurement quality.
- Co-develop our biomechanics pipeline for kinematics and joint-loading estimation.
- Build and validate algorithms using public/reference biomechanics datasets and our own experimental data.
- Develop ML models for time-series and multimodal sensor data.
- Translate our research pipeline into a scalable, near-real-time product architecture.
- Shape the technical roadmap and later build and lead the engineering team.
Your profile
- Background in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Computer Engineering or a related field.
- Strong experience with embedded or sensor systems, ideally in wearable technologies.
- Strong programming skills in Python and/or C/C++.
- Understanding of signal processing, synchronization, filtering, sensor fusion and calibration.
- Practical experience with machine learning, ideally for sensor or time-series data.
- Interest in biomechanics, human movement, sports technology or digital health.
- Hands-on, experimental and solution-oriented mindset.
- Motivation to take substantial technical ownership in an early-stage startup.
- Language skills: German and/or English
Experience with BLE, PCB development, pressure/force sensing, PyTorch or motion-capture validation is a plus.
We are preparing for a funding round in early 2027 and ideally looking for someone ready to join full-time from the start. If this is not yet financially feasible before funding, a part-time start with a clear commitment to transition to full-time is possible. As a true co-founder role, equity will be part of the overall package, reflecting the long-term responsibility and commitment in building MotionSynq.
What we offer
- A genuine technical co-founder role with equity and major influence on product and technology.
- The opportunity to build a deep-tech platform at the intersection of hardware, biomechanics and AI.
- High technical ownership and freedom to shape the architecture from an early stage.
- The opportunity to build and lead MotionSynq’s future technical team.
- Access to the Science Park Graz ecosystem and technical/scientific partners.
- A modern workspace in the Data House at TU Graz Campus, Infeldgasse, easily accessible by bike, car or public transport.
Our values
- Purpose: We share a passion for building something meaningful and creating real impact for people.
- Flexibility: We offer flexible working hours and hybrid work, combined with a strong sense of ownership and commitment.
- Team Spirit: We value mutual support, open communication and shared responsibility.
- Community & Fun: We enjoy events, informal gatherings and being part of a network of people with shared goals.
You do not need to be an expert in every area. If you are strong in one field and motivated to grow across others, we encourage you to apply.Interested? Please send us a short introduction, your CV and, if available, links to relevant projects, GitHub, publications or LinkedIn.
