What are my responsibilities?
As a Converter Service Specialist in Technical Sales & Field Service in the department Metallurgical Services, you will be part of the growing Converter Services team and expand Primetals Technologies’ footprint in the global steelmaking market. You will act as both a technical expert and sales engineer, understanding customer needs, presenting service solutions, and performing converter inspections, audits, and modernization activities on site.
- Serve as the primary technical and technical-sales contact for converter-related services such as inspection, modernization, process audits and lifecycle management.
- Conduct independent customer visits worldwide, presenting Primetals Technologies solutions and identifying new business opportunities.
- Perform on-site services, including mechanical inspections, condition assessments and converter fitness checks.
- Prepare and coordinate technical offers for spare parts, inspections and modernization projects.
- Analyze inspection results and prepare professional technical reports.
- Translate customer requirements into technical solutions and service concepts.
- Support modernization and upgrade planning, including spare parts and maintenance strategies.
- Cooperate closely with internal departments such as engineering, sales and purchasing.
- Execute supplier inspections and provide technical supervision during installation and commissioning.
- Prepare and deliver presentations and training sessions for internal teams and customers.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and development within the converter services network.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
- Completed higher technical education, HTL, FH or university, in mechanical engineering, mechatronics or a related field.
- Several years of practical experience in converter operation, maintenance or mechanical design, ideally from a steel plant environment.
- Proven hands-on experience and readiness to perform on-site work such as inspection, measurement, supervision and commissioning.
- Strong interest or proven experience in technical sales and customer relations.
- Good understanding of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Basic knowledge of converter process and metallurgical principles advantageous.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Siemens NX or Autodesk Inventor is an advantage.
- Confident use of MS Office.
- Very good English skills, written and spoken.
- High willingness to travel internationally, approximately 20 to 30 percent.
- Proactive, communicative and solution-oriented personality.
What else do I need to know?
The minimum annual gross salary for this position under the collective agreement and assuming that all requirements are met is 47,546.94 Euro. This could rise considerably depending on qualifications and experience.
