Internships
The IAEA accepts a limited number of interns each year. The internships are awarded to persons studying towards a university degree or who have recently received a degree.
The purpose of the programme is to provide interns with practical work experience in line with their studies or interests and to expose them to the work of the IAEA and the United Nations as a whole. The programme also benefits IAEA programmes through the assistance of qualified students specialized in various professional fields.
Organizational Setting
The Department of Nuclear Sciences and Applications implements the IAEA's Major Programme 2, Nuclear Techniques for Development and Environmental Protection. The Division of Physical and Chemical Sciences supports Member States in nuclear sciences, including production of radioisotopes and radiolabelled products for applications in health care and industry, radiation source applications, research reactor utilization, accelerators, nuclear instrumentation, nuclear and atomic data, controlled nuclear fusion and isotope hydrology and geochemistry.
Main Purpose
The internship aims to support the Radiochemistry and Radiation Technology Section in the effective planning, coordination and organization of the IAEA Symposium on Trends in Radiopharmaceuticals. The intern will provide assistance to facilitate the smooth, efficient and timely implementation of symposium-related activities.
Functions / Key Results Expected
The intern will:
- Support the management of abstract submissions through the INDICO platform.
- Communicate with Scientific Committee members and assist in the timely coordination of the abstract review process.
- Assist in maintaining and organizing symposium-related records, documentation and correspondence.
- Coordinate with Conference Services in the timely preparation of outreach and conference materials and organize participant and event-related data.
- Support the organization of virtual meetings with the Steering and Scientific Committee, prepare meeting summaries and reports, and assist in developing action plans and timelines.
- Assist with liaising with exhibitors.
- Assist in updating the cyclotron and radiopharmacy databases through engagement with relevant stakeholders and information providers.
Qualifications and Experience
- University degree in Science, Business Administration or a related field.
- Experience with MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Excellent written and spoken English is essential.
- Knowledge of any additional IAEA official language is considered an asset.
Applicant Eligibility
- Candidates must be at least 20 years old and have completed at least three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards a first degree.
- Candidates may apply up to one year after completion of a bachelor's, master's or doctorate degree.
- Candidates must not have previously participated in the IAEA internship programme.
- Candidates must attach two signed letters of recommendation to their application.
