Franz-Klein-Gasse 5 in Wien-Döbling. Hier arbeitet das österreichische Team der GBTEC-Gruppe an Software, mit der Banken, Versicherungen, Industriekonzerne und Behörden ihre Abläufe dokumentieren und ihre Compliance-Pflichten erfüllen. Neu ist der Standort nicht: Als Wiener GRC-Spezialist avedos aufgebaut, gehört das Haus seit Mai 2020 zur Gruppe rund um die GBTEC Software AG in Bochum und trägt seit 2022 den gemeinsamen Markennamen. Der Rechtsträger selbst steht seit 2002 im Firmenbuch des Handelsgerichts Wien.
Was das Unternehmen macht, lässt sich an einem Beispiel zeigen. Eine Versicherung muss jederzeit belegen können, wer einen Schadensfall nach welchen Regeln bearbeitet, wo die größten Risiken liegen und was geschieht, wenn ein zentrales IT-System ausfällt. Genau dafür ist die BIC Platform gebaut. Sie bildet Geschäftsprozesse ab, automatisiert Arbeitsabläufe, verwaltet Risiken und Kontrollen und wertet aus, wie Prozesse in der Praxis tatsächlich laufen. Den Bereich Governance, Risk und Compliance bringt seit der Übernahme vor allem das Wiener Team ein.
Die Kundenliste ist öffentlich und reicht von der Deutsche Börse Group über RWE bis zur Uniklinik Köln. Mehr als 1.200 Kunden setzen die Software laut Unternehmensangaben ein (gbtec.com, abgerufen 08.08.2026). Die Gruppe beschäftigt über 350 Menschen an neun Standorten, von Bochum über London und A Coruña bis Brisbane und Riad. Gegründet wurde GBTEC 2005 in Bochum. Seit 2023 hält der US-Investor Carlyle die Mehrheit, seither sind Büros in den USA und in Großbritannien dazugekommen. Für Wien bedeutet die Konstellation ein überschaubares Team mit einem Produkt, das auf drei Kontinenten im Einsatz ist.
In Wien arbeiten Consultants, die GRC-Projekte beim Kunden begleiten, dazu Projektmanagerinnen, Requirements Engineers und Entwickler, die an der Plattform selbst bauen. Ausgeschrieben waren zuletzt etwa eine Stelle im technischen Presales und eine im Office Management. Interne wie externe Weiterbildungen und Konferenzbesuche gehören laut Unternehmensprofil zum Angebot, ebenso flexible Arbeitszeiten und Homeoffice. Wie viele Menschen genau am Standort beschäftigt sind, veröffentlicht GBTEC nicht; das Firmenprofil auf karriere.at nennt eine Größenordnung von 51 bis 100. Sechs bis zehn neue Kolleginnen und Kollegen sucht das Wiener Büro nach eigenen Angaben pro Jahr.
